Education & Experience

I graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 2011 with Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts degrees. In 2024, I am currently completing my Master of Education in educational leadership, with a focus on collaborative inquiry, collective efficacy, and appreciative and transformational leadership styles.

Back in 2010, with practicum placements in Louis Riel, Pembina Trails, and Hanover school divisions behind me, I elected to work and live in Bangkok, Thailand for two years. Lertlah School specialized in teaching the Manitoba Curriculum in an EAL (English as an Additional Language) environment. I worked with school leadership to develop the “English for Communication” program that supported the development of conversation skills for grade 4-6 students. Living and working in Thailand led me to a more well-rounded world view, experiencing life in a culture very different than here in Canada. Additionally, I was able to develop skills related to teaching in an EAL environment, which has proven to be highly beneficial with our increasingly multicultural classes in Winnipeg.

In 2013, following my return to Winnipeg, I was hired by the Pembina Trails School Division and have worked in numerous schools, with a variety of single-grade and multi-age variations, ranging from grades 3-8. Throughout my career, I have continued to grow in a professional capacity and have spent significant time delving deeply into inclusive education, collective efficacy, school leadership, guided classrooms, inquiry-based learning, ASD aware classrooms, Indigenous education, CAFÉ, 6+1 Traits of Writing, and First Steps in Math, among other topics.

In addition to this professional learning, I have worked to further develop the capacity of the schools I have worked in, with accomplishments including:

  • Teacher in Charge in multiple schools

  • Program Leader in multiple schools

  • Pembina Trails Leadership Development Program completion

  • Facilitating school-wide professional development

  • Cognitive Coaching certificate

  • ManACE Seed Grant winner

  • Implementing school-wide Guided Literacy Block programs

  • Leading professional learning groups in guided math approach

  • Student Vote coordinator for all federal, provincial, and local elections

  • Drama Director

  • Numeracy committee development member

  • Literacy committee development memeber

  • Student leadership group chair

  • Workplace Safety & Health representative

  • Workplace Mental Wellness program development

Today, I continue to work in the Pembina Trails School Division in a grade 7/8 multiage classroom, in addition to supporting teachers in my school as one of our program leaders.
